Life at Forum: Mastercam Training
At Forum Plastics, we understand that investing in new skills and technologies allows us to deliver the creative solutions and consistent quality that our customers have come to rely on. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement and promoting professional development, employee training is a top priority for us this year.
Recently, two team members, Jimmy Fuoco and Jorge Almeida, mold makers and members of our tool room, completed a three-day Mastercam course for 2D milling. The first day was spent going over the program’s interface and the creation and editing of wireframes used to construct toolpaths. The additional days covered toolpaths, different types of machining operations, and Mastercam’s feature-based machining options.
Jimmy Fuoco, Mold Maker, Forum Plastics, said of the training:
“Mastercam is a powerful tool, and this opportunity has helped my understanding of the program greatly. The training has helped me utilize toolpaths I was unfamiliar with before and opened my eyes to new ways around difficult situations.”
Mastercam is a professional-level CAD/CAM suite we use every day in the tool room to assist in tool design, preventative maintenance, repairs, and rapid prototyping. It’s what allows us to use our more advanced CNC milling and EDM machines to their fullest potential. The more members of the tool room with experience using the software, the better we can respond to the requests and needs of our customers.
Training is a critical part of what makes any business the best at what it does, and here at Forum, we are proud to be able to make these investments in our people.
